Okay, it’s not really my everyday makeup look. Most days I tend to douse my face with a mist and keep it stepping. But when I have time to actually sit down and do my makeup, this is my go-to look.

I acquired this look after many trials and errors of experimenting with makeup in the past. It is essentially a visual cumulation of every good thing I’ve learnt and discovered. If you checked out my last post, you’ll see how I’ve stolen one of the eyeliner techniques I used there to incorporate it into my look – the shimmery under eyeliner has become one of my favourite things. Inspired by K-Pop idols and in need of easy ways to make my eyes pop, this method is starting to firmly establish its way into my makeup routine. Who says you can’t have colour as a part of your casual everyday look? Whilst there is nothing wrong with going for the bare minimum, there is also nothing wrong with experimenting on fun shades and textures to elevate your looks!

As everything else in my look is quite minimal, I made the most of my eye makeup by not only adding in pretty colours and textures, but also shapes. The classic wing eyeliner. Easy and simple. Without this my eyes would feel quite bare and naked. This helps to make my lashes appear fuller, and not too overbearing at the same time. I know I don’t need to explain how the winged liner is much loved, but it is a great feature in a daily look (as it is in a full glam look).

As you’d expect, my base makeup is quite basic seeing as it is a simple ‘everyday’ makeup look. I do add a little bit of extra bronzer to snatch my face (if I’m wearing makeup then I fully intend to look more snatched), but I ensure I buff it out properly leaving no dramatic harsh lines. If I was going for a full glam look then I’d most likely go in just a little bit heavier, and blend it a little bit less.

On top of my bronzer I go in with a little bit of highlight. Before I used to streak my face with bright gold powder, but I chose to reserve this for the full glam looks. Here I opted for a coloured rose gold-ish purple-ish highlight; as you can tell I quite enjoy colour in makeup. So that it doesn’t look too bizarre I made sure to blend it well and make it a little bit subtle. I think coloured highlights are great because it sort of doubles as a blush – adding a healthy amount of colour to your cheeks!

And of course, the final step of my go-to look is the glossy lips with a dark brown liner. I use dark brown liner because it looks great on dark skin tones, and the clear gloss helps to blend it together a little. I think this finishes off my look well because it accentuates the highlights and shimmers beneath my eyes and across my face. Also, by using a clear gloss and neutral colours, I was able to prevent the whole look from appearing too busy with multiple colours going on!

Hope you enjoyed this mini breakdown of my ‘everyday’ makeup look! Thanks for reading !Xx

[…] Looking back at the first everyday makeup look I did on the blog, I have no idea why I believed that was the right way to go. Glittery eyeliners, overly polished brows, sparkly cheeks? For an everyday look? Right okay, to defend my 19 year-old self, I did specify it was my go to look. Also, I hardly left my home to go anywhere apart from the shops and classes, so I hadn’t actually needed to develop an ‘everyday makeup look’ anyway. But, alas, I am 21 years old now and my life has changed significantly. All of a sudden there are random moderate occasions where I feel as though wearing makeup would do me well (not because my law degree caused for endless sleepless nights and I needed to cover my bags, pshh no). Also, there are times where I want to wear makeup but would like to keep it as minimal (yet effective) as possible. So this is my new default face for whenever those situations arise! As it’s an everyday makeup look, it ONLY takes me 10 minutes to do! Read on for the mini breakdown, and check out the products used at the end of this post! […]
