HELLO SPRING!

Am I eating a hot cross bun as I begin writing this blog post? Why yes of course I am! Spring has finally arrived!

Okay, I may seem late as the season began two weeks ago, but in reality, it was the weather that was late! If you live in the UK, you know that things started off extremely rocky. Whilst I adore the rain (I find it very comfortable), it’s not everyone’s cup of tea and the vibe outside was definitely not ideal. However, today’s weather switched up the story as it really embodied the spring season! Simply strolling around with my boyfriend outside in the peaceful morning, under the bright blue sky, with the sun shining out to greet and softly warm us up (well, perhaps not fully warm us up), it all felt like the most beautiful breath of fresh air. Literally. I know, it may seem very cliche – I’m beginning this post by talking about the weather, but it is relevant I promise!

Spring is such an important and blessed season. It invites the lovely energy of freshness, vibrance, new beginnings and do-overs, although Winter had already placed a lot of emphasis on this. The New Year period is deemed as the golden time to start again, set the perfect tone for the whole year, and develop perfect habits to become the best version of yourself (#new year new me), but it is not the *only* chance to do so. The Spring season is loaded with the message that there is always another opportunity to restart. It’s very easy to be swept up by the worldly idea that we only have that one chance for change at the start of the year, and if we miss it then everything is over. Well, I’m here to say – and I believe you already know this – but that is just not true. As the Spring season serves as another opportunity for such, it is the perfect time to dispel all of those fallacies and be more optimistic.

This understanding can also be brought into daily life. You know that idea of ‘you must have the most perfect morning to set the tone for the rest of the day’, but then you end up waking up late and decide that the whole day absolutely ruined? Or an awful Monday must irrefutably mean for an awful week ahead? This mindset is incredibly damaging and it’s important to realise that in reality every single second that you have been blessed with is another perfect opportunity to restart if you need to! There just simply is no gavel being smacked on a podium declaring that it is game over full stop. Just keep going! Have as many restarts as you need. Before you know it, you would have found your flow with things, be more at ease rather than frustrated and exhausted, and truly feel more fulfilled with yourself and your self-worth. You would not even be able to remember the last time you felt as though that gavel was coming for you!

This time of year provides so much fuel for an optimistic and refreshed outlook on life! The spirit of forgiveness and restoration found in Easter, the big notorious Spring clean, the breaks from busy routines with bank holidays/ time off (the spring break!), life being breathed back into nature as things begin to blossom and animals wake from hibernation… Forgive me for going into such depth, but I simply just cannot help myself. All of these things that Spring offers should be celebrated!

For my look in this post, I threw on my most spring worthy top and did a cute simplistic baby liner look. It was super easy and relaxing (contrasting with glitz and sparkles from the New Year period), and you can see exactly how I did it in my video tutorial below! All I did was grab an angled liner brush, used a pretty yellow to match my top and swiped it across my lid! Using an eyeshadow really helped it give the softness I wanted, and it enabled me to achieve a more pastel yellow, rather than a neon like yellow. Initially I was thinking to revive the stacked liner series, but I thought it’d be too much for this relaxed vibe I was going for. Nonetheless I shall reserve it for another makeup post!
